Tex X Penny II

  • Due Date 13 December 2008
  • Males 3
  • Females 5

It is with great pleasure to announce the arrival of 8 bouncing Goldrush babies. 3 males and 5 females.

This whole breeding was a success thus far. From the surgical implant, to the follow-up trans cervical insemination to the c-section exactly 61 days later, this delivery went off without a hitch. I had been taking Penny’s temperature all week…most days it was around 100*…when the temp drops to 98*, impending delivery should be within 12 hours. We didn’t have a temperature drop down that low, but we were on day 61 which is the correct date for delivery when a surgical implant is done. So, Saturday morning we headed to Rose City Animal Hospital for a progesterone check. When the progesterone levels drop below 2 ng, a pregnancy cannot be maintained and a c-section could go forward. Penny’s progesterone was 1.36 ng…so, off to the surgical suite we went.

Dr. Bleifer was on vacation so, Dr. Bonney took over to accomplish the feat. She expertly went in and took care of business delivering 8 beautiful bundles of joy. She is a Great Dane breeder so she has lots of experience with large breeds as well as reproduction in general.

We got 3 boys and 5 girls. 2 brindle males, 1 apricot male, 1 apricot brindle female, 3 apricot females and 1 fawn female
